2023 Summer  DAY Camp Counselor

Are you looking for a summer job that truly impacts somebody's life? Join our 2023 Summer Camp Team as a Summer Camp Counselor! Enjoy the great outdoors while making friendships that'll last for a lifetime!

The Summer Camp Counselors serves as a leader, lifeguard, role model, educator and counselor for approximately 12-18 campers (age 4-16) and participates in the planning & implementation of the camp program.

Our Counselor position is a full-time seasonal role, which works Monday - Fridays 8:00am-4:30pm. Staff Training Begins after Memorial Day weekend and leads up to June 12. Our Program runs from June 12-August 25, 2023. Counselors are required to work and attend our weekly Thursday Parent Program & overnight which begins on Thursday evenings and runs into Friday's schedule. Counselors have occasional weekly duties beginning at 7:15am or ending at 5:30pm, which these are rotated among staff.

 

Salary: 
  • $450.00 per week (about $1,800 per month), includes FREE YMCA Membership
Qualifications: 
  • Minimum of 18 years of age or older (Must be 18 before June 12, 2023)
  • Must have a high school diploma or GED
  • Must be willing to get lifeguard certified. Training is available for those who successfully pass the swim test. The lifeguard certification covers lifeguarding, CPR, AED & First Aid. 
  • Must have a valid driver's license
  • Must work a minimum of 40 hours or more per week. 
  • Must be able to work in all weather conditions such as rain & 70-90 degree weather. 
  • Must have the physical ability to lead & participate in camp activities which include, but not limited to: row boating, lawn games, building campfires, swimming, team building exercises, physical games & activities. 

2023 SUMMER CAMP ACTIVITIES COORDINATOR

The Summer Camp Activities Coordinator serves as a leader, role model, planner, educator and participates in the planning and implementation of the Summer Camp Program. The coordinator will primarily focus on planning & preparing age-appropriate activities, such as sports & games, arts & crafts, and under the supervision of the Summer Camp Director. The Coordinator is also responsible for the planning and instruction for all arts & crafts projects for the entire Summer Camp Program; maintaining and caring for the Jung Family Craft Center. In addition, the Coordinator assist the Summer Camp Director with the daily operations & procedures, serve as a back-up Summer Camp Counselor and filling in as the Assistant Summer Camp Director in the event of his/her absence. 

 

Salary: $500.00 per week (about $2,000 per month), includes FREE YMCA Membership

Days & Times: Monday - Fridays, 8:00am - 4:30pm, June 12-August 25, 2023; Weekly Thursday Parent Program & Overnight which begins in the afternoon and into Friday's Schedule. Occasional weekly duties beginning at 7:00am and ending at 5:30pm

Job Training: Days and Times will be discussed with the Summer Camp Director upon hire

 

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Minimum of 21 years of age (must be age 21 before June 12, 2023)
  • Must have a High School Diploma or GED
  • Coursework and/or previous experience in Childhood Education, childcare, camp setting or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience creating, teaching, implementing in activities and creating schedules, is preferred. 
  • Current First Aid, CPR, AED and Lifeguard Certification. Training is available after hire if this is needed. 
  • Musts possess youth leadership experience, excellent verbal and written communication skills, a cooperative attitude and the ability to work with and understand the needs of children. 
  • Basic Knowledge of computers and proficieny of Microsoft Office, Google Products, and the ability to learn other programs. 
  • Must have a high level of alertness, concentration, and initiative, with the ability to work accurately at a fast pace. 
  • Must have the physical ability to lead and participate in camp activities which include, but not limited to: row boating, lawn games, building campfires, swimming, team building exercises, physical games and activities.
