Being on staff at Camp Y-Koda is an opportunity to make a tremendous impact on lives of hundreds of children who visit us. Not only that, but we get to spend most of the time outdoors in the beauty of Eastern Wisconsin developing lasting friendships, learning important life skills, and getting to play and have fun!

  • Summer Day Camp Counselor - all counselors must be age 18 to work with the participants for this role by June 9.

2025 Summer  DAY Camp Counselor

A Better US starts with YOU! Be a child's hero this upcoming summer! Now accepting applications for 2025.

We are looking for compassionate individuals who want to impact youth, be adventurous, and embrace the spirit of camp.

Our camp counselors are assigned and lead a different group of children (between ages 4-16) each week and follow a pre-planned weekly schedule. We have many activities at Camp Y-Koda including, but not limited to: Archery, BB Guns, Sling Shots, a High Ropes Course, lake with kayaks & canoes, a small swimming pool, arts & crafts center, gaga ball and so much more. Our 80-acre property is a branch of the Sheboygan County YMCA. Our summer program is 95% outdoors rain, shine or snow! For more specific information please read below.

 

Typical Work Schedule
  • Mondays - Fridays with hour primarily between 8:00am - 4:30pm.
  • June 9 - August 29, 2025 (12 weeks total)
  • Paid Training begins after Memorial Day (Monday-Fridays)
  • We have ONLY one weekly Thursday sleepover which runs into Friday (the only time we bring out the s'mores!)
  • We offer a service to families for “Extended Care” which means some staff could be assigned to additional duties outside of our primary hours. These extra assigned duties start at 7:00am and may end as late as 5:30pm.
  • All Certifications are offered as part of training and we will pay you to take these for your role with us!

 

Salary: 
  • Starting at $450.00 per week for Only CPR Certified Counselors (about $1,800 per month), includes FREE YMCA Membership
  • $465.00 per week for Lifeguard Certified Counselors (about $1,860 per month), includes FREE YMCA Membership
Experience, Education and Qualifications
  • Due to being a licensed day camp with Wisconsin, all counselors must be age 18 before working with a group of participants. Minimum of 18 years of age or older.
  • Must have a high school diploma, GED or able to provide transcripts.
  • Have a current CPR, First Aid or AED Certification? Awesome! If you do not, no worries as we will get you certified for your role.
  • Interested in leading water-based camps? We will get you lifeguard certified for your role!! (More opportunities within the summer with this certification with us).
  • Excellent verbal and communication skills!
  • A passion for working outdoors and working with children.
  • Must be able to work in all weather conditions such as rain or 70-90 degree weather.
  • Must have the physical ability to lead and participate in camp activities which include, but not limited to: row boating, lawn games, building campfires, swimming, team building exercises, physical games and activities.
  • Willing to get a background check with the state.

SUMMER ADVENTURE TRIP COUNSELOR

The Trip counselor would serve as a leader, role model, educator and counselor for approximately 12-18 campers and participates in the planning and implementation of the Summer Camp Program, Adventure Trips and Leadership Camps. The primary duty will be going on all of our adventure trips offered this season. Adventures trip are where you bring a group of campers off-site to different areas in Wisconsin. Secondary - the trip counselor would do resident camps, adventure based day camps and leadership development camps. 

 

Typical Work Schedule
  • Mondays - Fridays with hour primarily between 8:00am - 4:30pm, with a weekly Thursday sleepover
  • Adventure Trip Weeks are Sunday-Friday ALL day and hours until returning. 
  • June 9 - August 29, 2025 (12 weeks total)
  • Training will be discussed with the Summer Camp Director, primarily starting after Memorial Day.

  • Coursework and/or previous experience working with teens, leadership development, camping, hiking and more.
  • Current Lifeguard, CPR, AED and First Aid certification. We can train you if needed.
  • Experience or have previous training with high ropes courses, adventure challenge programs and camping.
  • Proficiency of Microsoft Office and the ability to learn other programs.
  • An appreciation of outdoor living, nature and camp settings.
  • Must work primarily Monday-Friday. Adventure Trip weeks start on a Sunday afternoon until Friday.
  • Must be able to work in all weather conditions such as rain and 70-90 degree weather.
  • Must have the physical ability to lead and participate in camp activities which include, but not limited to: rock climbing, hiking on different terrains, lawn games, boating, building campfires, swimming, teambuilding exercises, physical games and more.

 

**This position would receive extra compensation for additional overnights on the Adventure Trip weeks.

**On non-adventure trip weeks, this individual would work Monday-Friday from 8:00am-4:30pm roughly.

**Due to being a licensed day camp with the Wisconsin Department of Children and Families, Camp Y-Koda does NOT provide room, board or transportation to/from work each day.

 

SUMMER CAMP EXPERIENCE COORDINATOR

The Summer Camp Experience Coordinator serves as a leader, role model, planner, educator and participates in the planning and implementation of the Summer Camp program. The Coordinator will primarily focus on planning & assisting with office-like duties, record keeping, phone calls, meal & menu planning, inventory and more. In addition, the Coordinator will assist the Summer Camp Director with the daily operations & procedures, serve as a back-up Summer Camp Counselor and filling in as Assistant Summer Camp Director in the event of his/her absence.

 
Salary
  • $525.00 per week (about $2,100.00 per month), includes FREE YMCA Membership
 
Days & Times

Monday-Fridays, 8:00am-4:30pm, June 9- August 29, 2025. Weekly Thursday Parent Program & Overnight which begins in the afternoon and into Friday's schedule. Occasional weekly duties beginning at 7:00am and ending at 5:30pm.

Experience, Education, Qualifications: 
  • Minimum of 21 years of age, (must be age 21 before June 9, 2025)
  • Must have a high school diploma, HS Transcrips or GED.
  • Coursework and/or previous experience in Childhood Education, childcare, camp setting or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience creating, teaching and implementing in activities and creating schedules, is preferred.
  • Current First Aid, CPR, AED and Lifeguarding certification.
  • Must possess youth leadership experience, excellent verbal and written communication skills, a cooperative attitude and the ability to work with and understand the needs of children.
  • Basic knowledge of computers and proficiency of Microsoft Office and the ability to learn other programs.
  • Must have a high level of alertness, concentration, and initiative, with the ability to work accurately at a fast pace.
  • Must have the physical ability to lead and participate in camp activities which include, but not limited to: row boating, lawn games, building campfires, swimming, team building exercises, physical games and activities.
  • Must be able to work in all weather conditions such as rain and 70-90 degree weather.
