Forest Fridays

Spend the day playing in the forest and doing themed nature based activities with Y-Koda Nature School 4K staff. Children should dress in layers, wear comfortable shoes, bring a bag lunch and a water bottle each day.

You're the mad scientist, and you're hungry! Create your very own mean, green monster using edible parts of plants - spinach leaves, broccoli florets, carrot roots, etc., and learn about the life cycle of a plant, too!
 
 
PARTY FOR THE PLANET

Celebrate Earth Day and Mother Earth with a B-Earthday Bash! We will make earth-friendly crafts using recycled and natural materials, and learn what we can do to make the world a better place! Don't forget, we'll even get to dig into some dirt cake!
 
 
NATURE'S PAINTBRUSH

Let your imagination and creativity come out and play today! We will be calling Mother Nature to inspire us as we look at the world through an artistic lens. We will use objects we find on the trail to create one-of-a-kind artwork, listen to music, and observe the beautiful landscape!
 
 
BUZZING WITH THE BEES

Buzz, buzz! Our favorite beekeeper, Mary Gross, will reveal all the secrets of what life is like for a honeybee! Create your own bee craft and even get yourwiggles out during a bee dance party! And don't worry, we'll even get to test outsome real honey!
 
 
PLAYIN' OPOSSUM

Have you ever encounted an opossum before? Many people are not too keen on these little critters, but in fact, they have some incredible super powers! Find out the real deal about opossums and why they are so important for our environment!
 
 
CHIRP, CROAK, CRUNCH - A WOODLAND SYMPHONY

Have you ever sat back and listened to nature's music? We will find out why and how animals communicate with one another. We will also create our own musical insturments from items found in nature, and have our own rock band (especially if some of those items we find happen to be rocks!)
 
 
LET'S GO CAMPING
MAY 28
Bonfires, tents, spooky stores, s'mores... it's camping theme! We'll make a day of "roughing it" with some creative camping play! We'll even get to build our own forts in the woords and play 'camper dress up'!
 
  
GILLS, SCALES, WARTS, AND TAILS
JUNE 4
Today we'll learn about fish, amphibians, and reptiles... it's a pond day! We will listen to different frog and toad calls, make our own fishing poles, and check out the ecosystems where these critters might be living here at Maywood!
