Invasive Plant Pull

Saturday May 27, 2023
9:00 AM-2:00 PM

ALL AGES

Glacierland is hosting an invasive plant pull at Gerber Lake Preservation Area in Sheboygan County. We will be removing garlic mustard and dames rocket that have overrun the trails at the preservation area. These plants are prolific seed producers and by pulling them in spring, together we can remove them from the area before they begin producing seeds. Both plants have short roots and are easy to remove when the ground is wet in spring. This will be the first year of an annual pull event, and by removing garlic mustard and dames rocket plants each spring, we can start to deplete their presence in the seed bank allowing native plants to return and reclaim the beautiful recreation area at Gerber Lake. Mark your calendars for this event! This program is in partnership with YMCA Camp Y-Koda, and Lakeshore Natural Resource Partnership.

Volunteers are recommended to wear long pants and closed-toed shoes. We encourage you to bring work gloves along as well. A limited amount of extra gloves will be available for volunteers to use on a first-come first-serve basis. Please bring a lunch along for a mid-day lunch break.
